Bidirectional Electric Vehicle DC Charger

Electric and plug-in electric vehicles are the future of the automotive industry. A major limitation to the adoption of these vehicles in the cost and range limitation of their batteries systems. High power fast (DC) charging systems will also play a critical role in the market adoption of these vehicles.

IPC will offer low cost, high performance electric vehicle DC chargers. The IPC 30kW EV DC charger has similar size, weight, and efficiency as IPC’s initial PV inverter. This allows simple outdoor wall mount installation next to EV parking.

IPC’s EV DC chargers will also offer bidirectional power flow capability enabling vehicle-to-grid (V2G) features. This product is built on the same hardware platform as IPC’s PV inverter simplifying UL1741 certification.

The initial bidirectional EV DC charger will be enhanced to a 3-port multi-directional power converter, where second independent DC port is added. The additional DC port can be connected to a PV array or a stationary battery. Both of these solutions enable high power charging during utility peak demand periods at lower cost and higher efficiency than other solutions.
