| Powerup: | November 22, 2011 |
Installation Details:
The PV array is split into 6 subarrays spread across both the University Campus III building and Engineering Building on the main campus of UTSA near IH10 and 1604. The array was mounted at an 11 degree tilt using ballasted rooftop mounting. The four inverters were mounted inside the UCIII building and 1 inverter is located in the Engineering Building. On both buildings the inverters were installed inside penthouse utility rooms, which would not have been possible with conventional 480VAC inverter systems. UTSA had aesthetics concerns on using large conventional ground mounted PV inverter that would look unattractive on their campus. According to the design and installation company, IPC’s lightweight inverter lowered their installation costs by about $0.17/Wdc and allowed short DC wiring runs.
