Universal Power Converter™ Platform
IPC patents describe a Universal Power Converter using the company’s topology. The topology supports a wide range of functions cost-effectively including…- DC->AC inverter
- AC->DC rectifier
- DC->DC converter
- Grid AC->VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) motor control
- Asynchronous AC -> Grid AC (full converter for wind turbines and other applications)
It also provides buck/boost voltage conversion, bi-directional power transfer, and multiport applications with any combination of independent AC and DC ports. IPC’s topology does it all, which is why it is described as a Universal Power Converter in the company’s patents.
The differences in all these products are minor, and are primarily embedded firmware. Since identical or nearly identical hardware can be used for multiple products and markets, the cost of development and manufacturing are further reduced. The diagram below illustrates how the company plans to develop several product lines from a Universal Power Converter (UPC) Platform.
